No one ever talks about energy. The only reason AI is taking over is because we're keeping it alive with fossil fuels. But the fossil fuel party will soon come to an end. The question is whether AGI will figure out how to fuel itself with another energy source before our fossil fueled civilization collapses. My guess is it will not. Nothing can replace the energy density AND the portability of fossil fuels.
