This video is exhausting because it's a content creator/influencer think-piece grappling with the inevitable: "Oh no! I saw something that challenges my "AI bad" ideology and now must grapple with so much cognitive dissonance. It's laid-bare for all to see: The continued conflation that something that has AI in it is 'made by machine', the juxtaposed "but AI can never do such and such!!!"/"humans will always be the ones who yadda yadda". As someone who isn't stuck in that ideology I'm too tired to make it to the end of this video, so i don't know if he comes to any realization or if this is going to be stretched into a series/saga. The "cool thing" he saw is something he will see will see more of, art that wasn't possible---or at least was unlikely to be made---before AI. Because art was never a static singular thing, it's always been a cauldron of influences, stolen ingredients, motivation, vision, delusions, ego---the list goes on and on. Adding AI to that list of ingredients will always lead to better art, because it expands the realm of what is possible, even if there's plenty of bad art in the world to go around (has been and always will be). I understand we are in that moment of disruption and we can look back at many examples and the outcome is predictable. Gate keepers complaining, resisting, pontificating, until it's just accepted. The camera didn't kill paintings, The video didn't kill theatre, the synthesizer didn't kill the orchestra, the tape recorded didn't kill the concert, in fact those "disruptions" have brought us many new and good things i would argue. If there's one thing I would like to get across here is that ideology is useful until it isn't. Shed it like old skin. Don't cling to it longer than is good and healthy to do so. What we have in this video is someone trying to hold on to their old dead skin.
