Honestly I used to be a huge skeptic but now I'm a little more on the fence. LLMs (the right models, configured in the right way) can generate some interesting code and can save you time and increase productivity. But it's not magic, and you can't treat it as being autonomous. You have to give it carefully-worded, carefully-scoped prompts. You have to review what it gives you. You have to carefully manage your context. You have to.... By my calculations I have seen about a 25% improvement in wallclock times for certain coding tasks. Not magic at all, and like I said there's a lot of setup to get there.
