10:24 Question - To what extent will future AI energy consumption simply replace current energy consumption of white collar workers, as those workers are replaced by AI? E.g. My employer used to rent and power a 1 million sq ft building, we went remote and that building is now completely powered down with no new tenants. That’s a big load removed from the power grid for all the lighting and AC alone in such a huge building. While it’s true it’s been outsourced to our individual homes, our homes were already climate controlled with internet all day while we went into the office - so working from home only brings a small amount of extra electricity usage. Add to that the annual “reductions in force” and attrition of workers that are not being replaced.
So we have the reduction in energy consumption nationwide due to the move to a remote workforce - with that factored in, what is the net increase in AI energy consumption?
