Honestly something that Im surprised these self-driving cars don't focus on is something like having self-driving only on Interstates. Would still be difficult to make work but would be easier to do than making it drive on smaller roads and pedestrian filled streets.
there were even some old predictions that Interstates would be either self driving or somehow controlled by some sort of controller in a tower who would set the car to a track to travel till your exit.
