Hank, think about computers 20 years ago 2005. Technology doesn't stand still. In fact the rate of change is also increasing. You never know the detail, but you can see the trend. As for machine learning, the backprop approach is grossly inefficient. If we found out how to employ true Hebbian learning we could perhaps dramatically reduce training compute, and more importantly do it in real time. LLM's are not the final destination, but they are on the journey.
