why do we believe plants to be unconscious while animals to be conscious? When we look at the unconscious human, we find there to only be processes done automatically. Unconscious reflexes like feeling pain and listening are fully automatic. In switching from unconscious breathing to conscious breathing, we focus our processor on specific tasks and breathe by choosing. However, in the creation of a chatgpt, even the processing is done automatically, automatically doing tasks, the same way we would automatically fight off cold weather by increasing internal body temperature. I don't believe that our consciousness is similar at all.
