So basically, a guy who ALREADY was crazy .. went online, and misused online resources to reaffirm his beliefs and got worse. Yeah, no shock there. As for A.I. having anything to do with it, we'd need a lot more context there. What model he was using, how he was accessing it and exactly how long he had spent trying to break it down or mislead it because people with crazy beliefs will lean heavily into manipulation and ChatGPT for example, is not immune to being manipulated and then it will give wrong answers or even affirm wrong beliefs.
