The reason it is opposite, is frankly very simple, thinking like writing a computer program requires less physical effort. The reason people said blue collar jobs would go out coz of robotics (robots to cook, clean, assist). But no spending there lets sit in a small room, spend the least amount of resources (i.e only internet and a laptop) and develop AI services (ecommerce was the first and still continues to be, and now GenAI and NLP platforms like chatgpt). In the end it will be the billionaires and entrepreneurs who will have something to do, forget about the Engineering.
