Banks may not be worried about AI but they are definitely concerned with crypto, more specifically stable-coins.
There is a reason why they didn’t allow stable-coin issuers to pay out interest to holders when congress recently passed the GENIUS act. It would be a competitor to banks.
There’s also the seamless transactions. Imagine being able to make large purchases or receiving large payments without Visa/Mastercard or banks as middlemen. You can also avoid the slow moving ACH system.
You can make transactions for thousands or millions of dollars in minutes rather than days and for pennies as a cost.
Of course there’s fraud risk, but this is why regulation is necessary.
