Concerning the Gartner hype cycle, I think we are on the peak of inflated expectations. But this time it not a peak, it a plateau. The computer hardware industry was having big problems, at least on the home and office computer front. Technological advancements (increase of CPU power) slowed down while the machines we had were good enough for everything thrown at it. The update interval increaed (except for gaming, but thats becoming a niche due to consoles) They needed something new to sell. Now everybody "needs" an AI chip at home, which is ridiculous.
