I have a question. Is it wrong to find pictures online drawn by other people to use as tokens in an online Dungeons and Dragon’s game that no one but you and your group of friends will see? (I’m honestly unsure, it’s what my group does, but I’ve gone back and forth on feeling like it’s ok or not.) If it is, what is the moral difference with that and using AI to generate a picture? In both instances someone else’s work is being used against their permission, but it’s being used in a way that won’t be seen by the rest of the world. I don’t like using AI art for it, as I think it looks ugly, but a few times I haven’t found any piece of art that was close enough to represent the character the token was for, but I found someone who made AI art specifically of the character I was looking for in the module so I used that.
