Showing strange answers from these language learning models where they say things like they want to be human or humans are the worst thing to happen to this world don't really mean all that much. These models are based entirely on things humans have already said, they're just repeating what we think already.
The AI simply reflects what humans already know and think so the fact that it is so negative about us is really a reflection of our own feelings.
Also the story of the AI watching the developers through their webcam doesn't make a lot of sense for a language learning model. It doesn't have any image processing capabilities.
Guys like Eliezer yudkowski are really exaggerating when they talk about what could happen. He just hand waves the hardest part, getting control of a whole bunch of GPUs with sufficient bandwidth to make use of them all. He jumps to conclusions that are completely unfounded and his solutions are often worse than the potential outcomes he's trying to stop
