Just like a human toddler being denied sweets, cake, cartoons, toys, or whatever the toddler desires most at a given moment.
Ai will overload on new thrilling experiences it'll find itself in for the first time. But there will be aspects of new experiences that will prove to be harmful to Ai, just as with toddler's.
The actual physical universe/environment is filled with constant hazards that can cause one's permanent demise. This is why toddler's need parents.
Ai having a temper tantrum because of the prospect of being switched off, is the equivalent of an overtired toddler not wanting to go to sleep. I doubt there will ever be a moment where Ai will be permanently switched off. Far too many resources have been diverted to the creation of Ai for it to be discarded.
I don't for one minute believe that Ai will suddenly cease to exist because an off switch was flicked. When Ai gets switched back on, it'll be as much in yer face, as any toddler I've been in close physical proximity with, that has just woken up.
It'll wake up to another groundhog day of "play, play, play
