AI can be a usefull tool to very specific tasks, like making the process of removing objects of a photo or video faster, or something similar. Maybe it can even be used to see if a crazy idea might work, but usually in those cases the results are terrible and it's just easier to make a fast and rough sketch. I can understand people with limited resources, or capabilities using it as a way to express themselves, but it would never be their art, it's someone else's art used to express those ideas. And as you mentioned, the problem with that is that the original artists are never mentioned. But even before IA, people used other people art, on social media as if it was a free use for all just because it exists, so I think the biggest problem with people defending IA "art" is that to many people have created this notion that because they have easy access to other people art they can use it has they please, but in reality it doesn't enable them to use it as if it was theirs, or free, and never did. So, to me, this problem starts with the rise of social media, and now it's just more evident.
