The court ruling seems short sighted. If I pay for the AI service, then isn't that a work for hire? How is it any different than Jeff Koons having an army of painters who work for his studio and take direction? He literally never touches a canvas. Furthermore, I could list artists who have automated their mark-making, introducing chaos and a lack of control over the final output.
