Fair warning: Wall of text ahead.
So AI images suck, but also the designs are really cute, and AI images are cool? Seems inconsistent.
7:49 Lighter peachy skin like two of the three characters you drew for the video? It's as if people just happen to make AI art that has that predisposition, since most anime art is from Japan, which is fairly homogenous, and is reflected in much of their art. Also, at least from my experience with Bing's AI image generator (based on Dall-E 3), it has a fair amount of racial diversity in its image generations. If I had to take a guess, you're just looking in the wrong places.
12:15 So AI images will never be as good, nor as consistent as human art, so what's there to worry about? And doesn't that somewhat go against what you just said about AI being bound to get better?
I can tell you why AI image generators are being promoted despite artists, animators, writers and so on being able to produce better quality art, and you already guessed part of the answer, which is greed, as people don't want to spend money they don't want to spend, and AI gives results for far less cost (in some cases basically free). The second part would be speed, since AI makes images much more quickly, and the third part is that artists are not a protected elitist class who are entitled to work for other people's money despite technological advancement. This applied to farm laborers when tractors came along, this applied to human calculators when digital calculators came along, and so on until now it applies to artists. Maybe a bonus part would be sheer ease plus a low skill-cap for beginners, who can make hyper-realistic images with a simple prompt and click of a button upon their first try, compared to requiring years of skill and hours to days of time for equal results through traditional art methods.
14:30 I think this is an interesting statement. How are they taking your art away when it's you who's making it unavailable? And what about literally anyone who's copied and pasted your art? You didn't care then, so what's different now? If you say they're using it without consent, the same already applied to copying and pasting, and you already think AI images will never be as good as human art anyways, so what's the problem? Also, I'd argue by posting anything on their platforms for free you've given implicit consent for those platforms to do as they see fit with that art. If I put my belongings in someone else's house without specifying to not use them, I have given them implicit consent to use my belongings. That's not to say you shouldn't be able to opt out, you should be able to for any reason you want, but prior to that you put your art in their hands, and unfortunately for the average person the company almost always wins.
14:59 Kind of true, though if a lack of images were a problem, positive and negative feedback would be a quite viable resort, which is already a part of the process anyways. The images you've deleted have likely already been scraped, so it really only deprives humans that wish to look at it, not the AI.
