The tool (Chat GPT) will only HELP teachers become better teachers and students become stronger more critical learners. As Chat GPT has continued evolving, programs such as Khan Academy and others have adapted their AI to match the modern day struggles that both students and teachers face together inside and outside of the classroom. ChatGPT has already transformed instructional platforms that were previously only SOMEWHAT successful, into far more effective learning devices enabling students to learn in more authentic ways and the chance to think critically and independently. These new modalities have further been tested and and shown to exceed the status quo learning curve of the past. I guess Natasha Berg is a little behind the curve herself when it comes to her knowledge of how AI has evolved into a technology that offers students the unique opportunity toward reaching their full academic and psychological potentials. The new Khan Academy, for example, has already illustrated to be notably effective in bridging student learning gaps, creating a new way of assessing student's critical knowledge and understanding of a lesson, and ongoing informative assessments-- And as elementary school teachers we are all well aware of the back-breaking sweat that goes into just ONE day of teaching. We spend most of our time planning, grading, reporting, documenting student data and and making sure we have a unified classroom culture which meets the district standards and regulations---just to mention a few. Oh yeah and monitoring student behavior--is a whole other job in itself...EVERY teacher will tell you they are constantly overworked, overwhelmed and underpaid. We have hardly any time to actually spend TEACHING and CONNECTING with our students--understanding their individual needs and cognitive development! And of course we have virtually ZERO time to devote to our own personal care, health or social life. In all honestly being a teacher in the United States is a complete joke and a notably laughable career choice if you one wants to possess some semblance of a life outside of teaching. I'm honestly stunned that this lady is so ill informed on this topic of AI as being a new stepping stone for making every teacher and every student's life easier and more enjoyable...Teachers in countries around the world have already begun utilizing this technology in multiple forms since its creation. Sadly I fear that as this international movement develops it will only further contribute to the overall education gap which already exists between the West and it's European counterparts. Once again, our students in the U.S. whom are caught within the confines of our public school system will be devoid of the critical learning skills, tools and knowledge they need in order to reach their full potentials. This concept seems to be better understood by Gen Z and Gen X's, who are already strikingly more informed about the essential modern day evolutionary components of our society and what it has to offer them. Many of these adolescents know that they can learn more doing their own research than they can inside their classrooms. Young people in the U.S. are ready for a change and the older generation seems to be struggling to keep up.
