This sign doesn’t protect the lady in this case because she was not in the bike lane. Other points of interesting are the driver’s face seems lit up, but I dint know if that’s the camera or actually enough light and the type of light that can decrease night vision. Just a little white light in the eyes can decrease night vision a lot. And the video camera can’t pick up objects as easy as the human eye can, which is why the flat earthers don’t understand why starman didn’t show any stars. Also, in the video we can see the high beams should have been on in that case, and if they were, a human would have seen the pedestrian. So some liability does go to the safety driver for not really making sure the way ahead is clear for the speed the vehicle was going and the lighting conditions. The autonomous system failed, that’s for sure. It should have seen the pedestrian well ahead and stopped, or at least beeped that something fishy is going up 100 feet ahead, in the darkness. The cyclist broke every human law of common sense, but what if this lady is one of those with a slight mental condition, and too old to be cared for by parents, and no kids who will take care of her? Or what about a kid who is out riding late at night? This is a case of “an accident waiting for a place to happen”, but by design, this place looks like a place designed for an accident to happen, with self driving cars added to the problem.
