If you were young during the Napster era when music was free on the internet because it was unregulated. This will feel very familiar as the situation is similar and it took years for the music industry to stop illegal file sharing and set up streaming services. I think that’s why music is getting more protection from AI in comparison. The music industry also has dedicated unions and organisations Ex PRS who collect the profit for music artist.
If these AI companies made AI art technology for research only it wouldn’t be as easy to exploit but since there plans involves profit and exploitation you should feel like supporting artists.
A lot of people think digital art is two clicks, magic wand poof the art is magically made and AI art generation feeds into that myth.
That’s actually the core of the problem, people devalue digital art because they assume it easy to make but don’t understand the years of dedication, time and cost it takes to develop artistic skills to produce the art they like.
