While I agree this human context is still very much critical, I’d be a bit more cautious about assumptions regarding where this is going.
Models insanely improved just in the past few months. I find myself changing less and less PRs generated by AI, and on the other hand I start seeing other functions in my company shipping features (product, design, CS).
There is still definitely a human behind the wheel providing context, but as time passes on that context doesn’t necessarily need to come from a technical person.
Also, the points about code quality in this video feel like they were made a year ago. I’m hardly seeing this now - especially in areas of the code where you have a strong automated feedback loop (unit and e2e tests, linters, AI review, etc).
Btw - Devin also improved massively, at least from my experience. I’d give it another go :)
