since this vid ended up in my recommendations, i might as well say my two cents like many people, i was straight up fascinated by ai based image generators when they first came out even the smudgy crap made by dall-e mini (now craiyon) was interesting despite making nightmarish abominations then i was messing around with a downloadable version of stable diffusion, and i used it to visualise dumb ideas or to just mess around, and nowadays i have a different generator but even though the images the program generated looked somewhat nice, even great in some cases, i never considered it art, i still doodle stuff on paper generators to me are basically toys to play with when i'm bored whenever i want to quickly visualise a dumb or interesting idea, or to just mess around, i just open a generator, do something for a bit, and that's it, i move on but even i have to admit that what twitter did recently is just unacceptable forcefully taking data from users to feed their ai named grok (they really couldn't come up with a better name, could they?), and announcing it to everyone is a whole new level of bold with this one simple trick elon managed to ruin the site even more also, the fact that so many corporations jumped on the ai bandwagon before the technology was perfected is simply troubling so now we get google's ai overview which pulls data from the onion or reddit, resulting in it telling us to eat rocks or to use non toxic glue on pizza, or windows 11's ai *which takes screenshots of your desktop every few seconds like a spyware* they didn't learn from the tay ai fiasco, and they didn't learn that the internet will always try to mess something up and i think it needs to be said - after all the technological advancement, image generators are STILL not advanced enough to be reliable alternatives to actual art due to the abundance of bugs and the uncanny valley effect, and i don't think it will ever happen
