I have come to disagree for the first time on a kurgestat video on the argument that "feeling pain for a robot would have to be programed". This may be true in a more developed manner, in which different types of pain can be programmed. But, in the most primitive state, pain is a state of discomfort. Tu put it simply, if the basic components that makes a robot are unarranged in such a way that it does not progresses, it is inherently in a state of discomfort, only when a robot functions and is able to prolong its existance its discomfort becomes less. Pain is a biological mechanism that communicates something is wrong, the ultimate cause of pain can be many, like a car crash and breaking an arm. The ultimate effect (if untreated) is not pain, but death or an unwante fate.
