Cameras and even those sensors in automated hand dryers have always been geared to accurately recognize white people and those with skin tones on the much lighter side. POC are constantly being falsely recognized for the exact reason mentioned in this video, that the models and photos they are feeding into these systems are not diverse enough to give a proper representation of all diverse groups.
