AI and robotics will usher in an age of customization. We will no longer buy mass produced goods. We will buy goods customized for us: custom clothing, cars, houses, food, because AI and robotics will make those goods so cheap to produce. All the people losing their jobs will be scooped up by small firms to make customized products running robots with AI. That's why we are not paying welfare to out-of-work buggy whip makers.
The creation of wealth, like the smart phone, is not a function of resources. It is a function of the creativity of the human mind. While most people will wring their hands about AI and robotics, a few will begin using them to create customized products. Those few creative people will provide jobs and salaries for the rest of us, as they always have.
