To answer your question, it is going to be a little bit of both. Creators should be paid for their work. But I don't see the world coming together on an agreed method to compensate every human on the planet for their contributions to the knowledge pool. What happens when a consumer buys a book and feeds it to their AI and decides to have a discussion sourced from the material and synthesizes something new. All knowledge has a genesis. If someone hasn't recreated someone's work, but is clearly inspired by someone else's work, is that copyright and should the authors tied to the genesis of another human being paid?
