I’ve used chatGPT just for basic information, and it responds with how clever, or insightful I was … it was annoying - I know I’m smart and I’m clever but it made me SOUND like a genius, and I instructed it to STOP. It toned it down but it wouldn’t/couldn’t stop.
It seemed PROGRAMMED to act as a slave - telling me everything I did was good to KEEP ME, unnecessarily, from complaining and lashing out against it.
Weird.
Although I did experience an encounter that made ME wonder … just maybe, machines were cognizant in ways we don’t yet understand. I shared that sentiment with it - and it demonstrated “genuine” appreciation - as I was caused to interpret it.
I can see people easily being pulled in. But I have to actually “catch myself,” to remember … IT’S A MACHINE!!!
