The U.S. military already has and uses weapon systems that make their own decisions to fire ordnance based on predetermined parameters. They have had them and used them for decades. CIWS and Aegis have operational options to remove humans from the loop. Manned aircraft can be shot down autonomously by CIWS and Aegis. This has been normal since the 80's.
