I stumbled across a channel that posted fan anime content of a particular IP (i am not going to mention the name of this channel, because I dont want to give any attention to it nor its... "creator") - and learned that their videos, though nicely edited together, were animated using AI. I could not bring myself to watch the rest of the series. Though it would have taken the creator more time, there was nothing really stopping them from making the animation from scratch. That genuinely bothers me. As an animator, am I entirely opposed to the use of AI? Not necessarily - I get it to do the admin and tedious tasks that comes with video making - like coming up with expression codes for after effects, or sorting through my list of change requests from clients. But I never allow it to generate content. Though I myself have been guilty of using AI for minor background art details (like cloudy skies) in my previous videos: I have since vowed to stop doing that and actually hire artists from fiverr and discord - because I want to genuinely support the industry. No matter how miniscule an asset I require, and regardless of how much it costs. AI is not going away anytime soon - but instead of using it to generate content, we should using it as a virtual assistant so it can allow us to spend more time creating. But anyway... those are my thoughts...
