I don't have a problem with AI art honestly. I don't call people who use AI models to generate images as "artists" though. They're prompters. I think that's a fair difference. The way I see it, is AI models are just another tool. It's no different than the hundreds of features built into graphical editors, or digital workstations. They're all shortcuts made for the purpose of efficiency and convenience. And 'real' artists have no problem using those, and will never demonize them because they don't see those shortcuts and tools are detrimental to 'creativity', which I don't believe. The way I see AI art is like how I see VST presets. Is someone less of an artist because they used a preset, instead of individually crafting every wave? Didn't individually program every effect? Implemented a predefined filter type? Or do go even deeper, are you less or more of an artist if you reject 432 and 440 and decide to use 433? Or 439? I know I'm conflating digital art with digital music, but I think the point still stands. AI models are tools in the same way editors are. The product generated isn't more or less "art" than 'art'.
