I asked ChatGPT how to get a raise, it suggested talking to your employer and discussing your needs in a professional manner, then explaining as politely as possible that you would enjoy continuing to work for the company but would be unable to do so at your current salary, that you would need "x" amount of money, or you would be forced to search else where. With this approach it doesn't even matter what similar function co workers are being paid, it is simply a matter of them deciding if you are making the company more money than you need as compensation. Only an idiot would let go of an employee who was making more profit for the company than it cost to pay them. If they won't meet your needs, then maybe you are not worth nearly as much as you thought you were. That or your profession is over saturated with desperate workers willing to work for slave wages and you should seriously consider a career change. There will always be people willing to work for less than you, you have to be WORTH more than them and you have to know you are worth more and you have to demand (politely) that your paycheck reflect that worth. If you don't think you are worth more than minimum wage, why should your employer think so?
