This is funny DW trying to promote Aleph Alpha when they are actually irrelevant, If DW wanted to actually cover the true European AI LLM leader it's Mistral. Aleph Alpha having their own datacenter, like let's be real they are not only trying to compete with OpenAI but with Microsoft and Google on the datacenter side of things, it ain't happening. Mistral did the right thing partnering with Microsoft. I just can't see how Aleph Alpha will be able to put few billions every few years to replace their compute clusters.
And anyone against Open Source AI doesn't understand that any risk Opensource AI provides is the same risk closed source AI has.
Just think for a second if AI is going to power everything from the smallest process to the most complex one, and all the economic activity relies on OpenAI's models, then one Morning OpenAI decides well F you and cut your access. You just can't give so much power to closed source models.
