I guess it's kinda controversial to call myself a disabled artist, but just to be clear - I've partly lost my vision a couple of years ago, so I'm partly blind. Just partly, I've adapted to my condition for everyday life but honestly it's still hard for me to work with digital stuff - some colors are hurting my eyes, its really hard to physically focus on my screen (there are "perks" of constantly having blind spots all over your vision, like you cant look at bright and vibrant colors cause you start to "hallucinate" if I may say so). And honestly I wholeheartedly despise image generative ai. I'm actually an animator, not really an artist in the strict sense (I do art sometimes but I'm more passionate about animation), but I really want to become good at my art, and man, ai is good for disabled artist? I guess it has its point - maybe someone with worse condition than mine will argue with me, but again, I'm speaking only for myself, but instead of typing and adjusting prompts I would rather learn and improve, I will try to fill my work with my passion, hard work and soul, rather than pretend (or openly admit) that I'm trying to "tell the world something I'm not able to tell myself". I'm able to tell it in my way, with my pace, with my own hands and eyes, even if it's hard, even if I as a human being make mistakes and I'm as a human being with some special condition may not be good enough at it, but I'll still try, cause for me art is something more than just pixels on screen, something that even a perfectly trained ai can't capture and create. It's my passion and even if I'm not able to express it in the way I wish, I'm still proud of what I'm able to do. So no, in my case ai would be just an excuse, not a necessity.
