From what I understand AI isn't artificial intelligence... That is it's not Intelligent. It's just a buzzword and a lot of things can be called AI. There's good and bad AI. I would say that the example used of Terry Prattchet was an example of a person using AI as a tool to be able to continue writing. AI doesn't think, taking speech and making text out of it is a typical thing AI does. I would consider things like spell check and autocorrect AI too. If it had been invented today they would have called it AI. People just don't think of it as AI since it's been around longer than the new buzzword. As someone who is dyslexic I need tools to correct my writing and I actually often can't see the errors in my text by reading it over again because my brain tend to corrects the errors so they're invisible to me. I usually need someone else pointing out the error if I have handwritten something when I was stressed and didn't take extra time. On my computer I don't have any spellcheck or auto correct so I seldom write anything on it because it is extremely frustrating, stressful and upsetting to try because people judge spelling errors etc so harshly and don't take you seriously if you can't write "properly". So I have to use my phone to express myself online through text. Since there's things that indicate if the spelling is correct or not on my phone. Having AI that does everything for you defeat the point and then you're really not creating anything, just taking others stolen words and jumbling it together through AI. But I would say that many disabled people need tools to be able to write and that AI is such a nonsense word that it can include scripts that help with spelling, scripts that transform your spoken words to written texts etc. That said I think nanowrimo should have handled things differently and perhaps been more specific if they wanted to go down this route. Giving examples of different disabilities etc and what they could need help with. Perhaps they could have used Terry Pratchett as an example of someone who needed help from a computer program to be able to continue to write.
