Hi, disabled artist here, thank you so much for bringing up how shitty it is to use disabled people as an excuse, a lot of time were mentioned for brownie points by people who don’t care about us at all. Making art was actually a huge coping mechanism for me when my health started declining, so this argument always upsets me. Being disabled does make art harder, my issues don’t even scratch the surface of that, and some people might not be able or willing to pick it up, but saying “disabled people can’t make art, so ai is good” is not true! I also think that ai users don’t understand what art actually is, or why people make it. I like drawing, the actual process not just a result, typing up an ai image will never give me as much joy as doodling my favorite character when I’m too sick to leave the house, it wouldn’t comfort my 13 year old self who drew scratchy art of how their pain felt, it can’t give me something to do with my hands to during my worst days, and it can’t even begin to visualize my emotions as well as drawing jagged lines in my notebook. Ai users aren’t artists because they gutted art of what its purpose is, if you actually want to make art than an ai will never cut it.
