6:35 I want to make clear here i am neither an artist nor am i one who steals or uses art in any way shape or form. This is just my unbiased perspective of this situation looking from the outside in! I heard about this issue floating around online and wanted to dig a little deeper. The argument at 6:30 states as quoted "As long as my art is literally integrated into the system used to create the images. It is commercial use of my art without my consent". The key word here is Commercial. (Commercial) is defined as any reproduction or purpose that is marketed, promoted, or sold and incorporates a financial transaction. The key word in that definition is (reproduction). Reproduction is defined as the action or process of making a (copy) of something! So now we are at the root cause of the issue here. Artists are arguing that AI is copying their work! But if we take a closer look at the majority of the art being made by AI, the artwork is not being copied. Instead, it uses multiple pieces of current artwork as a reference to create a completely new and unique image that has never been seen before, and that is the image being used for marketing. It is not using copies of artist's work. Now granted some of these art pieces made by AI does look nearly identical, and in situations like those, i do think that the companies should update their AI systems to compare those images to the originals so that the images created by AI DONT come out looking so similar! there should be a threshold to determine how similar one picture is allowed to look to the original!
