Unfortunately we are having the same problems in the mining industry. The rise of autonomous equipment and the drop in miners wages has led this industry to be not worthwhile anymore. I have 20 years in the mining industry and this used to be just like trucking you could make good money and good wages here but unfortunately that was way in the past and now it doesn't pay anywhere close to what it used to and because they can't get people to come in and work for the low wages they have decided to start making the equipment autonomous or remotely operated so that you can operate it from inside of an air conditioned office. That takes the operator out of the equipment and therefore makes it so that they do not have near as hard of a day and in doing so makes it so that the companies can pay less for that operator
