The lie is thinking that using existing art to make AI-derived work is wrong — it’s not. Artists have always taken inspiration from existing pieces; it’s a normal part of the creative process. You don’t need permission to be inspired by something — that’s how so many great projects and characters come to life. Art evolves from art.
The truth, though, is that AI-generated art shouldn’t be sold. It’s meant to be used as reference material or inspiration, not as a finished product for profit.
