Do you "create" the art with photography?
The amount of work you'd do to take a photo could vary massively from almost none at all, hand crafting everything in the scene, to just thinking about the composition before taking the photo.
But then AI art can also vary massively in how much you do to make it e.g. did you write the ai yourself -- modify an existing ai to get results that you want -- drawing your own composition for the ai to follow, etc.
As an example, I think "diffusion illusions" are pretty cool. It was a guys PhD project, and he modified stable diffusion to be able to produce two images in one when viewed in different ways e.g. images that look like a dog, but a sloth upside-down.
So I don't think it's as cut and dry as saying no AI art is art. But then it seems pretty arbitrary how you decide how much effort someone needs to put in before it is their art.
