Know this: if you're "creating" music with AI, that AI was trained on REAL music created by someone else. AI is currently trained on existing art. That's a fact. Copyright law eventually will be forced to treat AI music as derivative works because its ultimately made from the original. However, I doubt the system will ever be reliable enough or precise enough to catch thieves. Conversely, if an AI tool does become robustly precise at catching derivative works, there will likely be a market for people arguing THEY are the original instead of the actual original. Sad, really. In the end, the copyright office will side with the "creators" who provide the most profit.
in short, the distinction is this: Can you play the instrument you just prompted to be played by AI? No? Then you "created" nothing.
