I paint warhammer style minis and do bigger statuettes and dioramas as well. I have a bulging disc in my neck and considerable nerve damage that some would consider disabling. The pain and lack of control make it really, really hard to do anything with proper detail. So far **fingers crossed** I don't have to worry about AI stealing my niche (though I assume they'll have pre-colored space marines out of the box any day now).
Speaking only from my own perspective, I don't see how AI makes art more accessible to disabled people. Let's say you spend $500 on a smart phone or computer, and then $100/year for an AI subscription as was said in the video... what keeps you from going and hiring an artist to make your art for you? It works the same way, except you'll almost certainly get a better result. I guess for people that are explicitly concerned with volume, that would be a choice. The big problem comes down to people not thinking artists should be paid for their time to make art. I've had to refuse so many commissions because people say things like, "You already have the paint and brushes, so $20 should be more than enough to paint my army." Well. No. Because the equipment and paints are expensive, the primers are expensive, the skills I developed for years was expensive, and my time as an "expert" is expensive now. People just see it as a hobby, and not a business. Until people fix their mindset around art as a career, people will continue to use AI for "convenience," "speed," and volume. People pay a mechanic to change their oil for convenience, or because they don't know how to do it themselves... but they're not willing to pay an artist for convenience, or because they can't make the art themselves.
