99% is too high an estimate. Just because a job can be replaced by AI does not mean that it makes sense to do so. Example: empathetic professions that require human contact. AI-based translators will replace only human translators who cannot perform better than AI tools as a yardstick. One thing that AI cannot achieve is the comprehension of language contents. It simply does not know what it is doing, a prerequisite for high-quality translations.
Even an umemployment rate of 50% would be a disaster. The undisputed issue is that this concentration of power and destructive competition between tech giants pose a major threat to humanity.
