So I've been working in schools since 2001 and teaching since 2005. I've seen a lot of change, and we need a something new, but I'm not sure this is it. We're getting weekly emails that we are short subs so if you want to use your prep or lunch to cover another room for some extra money call down. Having AI cover the basics for certain, low maintenance gen-ed kids might be the way to go because the best teachers are getting pulled to handle SpEd and high needs behaviors, kids who are "runners" and need help relating to other children. So much of our day isn't spent teaching, but building relationships. AI isn't going to be able to help that just yet. The new teachers are quitting in droves, and we just aren't seeing Gen-X grit in the new breed of educators. When all of the Gen-X retire, who is going to replace us?
