I do agree that AI art is pretty... bad most of the time. But if your only virtue as an artist was financial prospect or some weird sense of distinguished 'specialness' for lack of better term, then you were never really meant to be an artist. The idea that art, something so abstract and appealing to the mind, MUST have some monetary value attached for purposes of trading and purchasing, is insane. It literally stops being art. It's like trying to monetize the appearance of a flower. It's patently insane. Yet still, I must pretend like these are respectable artists. It's not that you can't hate AI, but the reasons always come back to "I want money" or "I deserve something good because I art" which.... was never what art was about. Provably so. And that's the only threat AI art presents. Money and recognition. If you cannot motivate yourself without those two as motivators, then you're not an artist. You're an employee. And it's time you find a job that provides those incentives because art will, and should, not. (Or you can just keep doing art, but art for the purpose of money will always be threatened by AI). Yes. There's a difference. Say what you will, but I'm lowkey glad this is filtering out the.... less desirable folk. Art really should be for people who love art. Not for people who love money and see art as a way to get there. I'm not what I'd call 'pro-AI', but I find so many people be gross and disgusting towards everyone just because "AI = bad". And it turns out they're just trying to protect their furry corn business. "IM NOT GONNA MAKE AS MUCH MONEY ANYMORE". Even if you think art should always be compensated, one must be aware that it certainly isn't stable income and MAKING it stable is EXACTLY what kills the artistic angle. Because it's not supposed to be financial. I'm so tired of everyone always talking about money money money. I really feel like we lost the point of art in all this money and fame obsession. I don't find kinship with other artists anymore. I've been impoverished all my life. Should I stop drawing because I won't make any money from it thanks to AI? Certainly you see the insanity of this statement, at least from an artist. EDIT: Every time I say "You", I mean the "Royal" you. Not literally you, OP, or you, commentor.
