Everything was going great until he said machines can be conscious and "people don't know what consciousness is" he lost all my respect, and infact I felt he was dump when he made this claim... just because he is called "Godfather of AI" doesn't mean he has to advocate eveything about AI and stop thinking logically on few aspects. I would advice anyone who believes by what he said to check another youtube interview "Quantum Information Panpsychism Explained | Federico Faggin". Federico Faggin designing the world's first commercial microprocessor and touch screen technology... he has deep understanding of quantum physics. This is where machines can never replace human concisiousness, though it might very well immitate or even excel mimicking humans. Geoffrey in this video said "If a human brain cell could be replaced by piece of nano technology that behaves exactly the same way as natural cell does when it gets pings from other neurons, other neurons wont know what has changed ", but Federico says this is way beyond algorithms and no one understand howindividual cells work, cells are connected by quantum fields, particles are states of field, they are not seperable, like a wave of the sea. In simple terms, cells have free will and is controlled by the quantum fields. You cannot program free will and consciousness into a nano particle you created and replace them with a neuron, because no amount of programming or AI can predict a free will of a cell.
