it sometimes seems like they're rushing this shit to try and create an ai so, idk, smart/capable it can do or answer "something". like there's some catastrophe in our future that only the top know about and this (and them building bunkers at the same time) is there response; like they're hoping they can amass so much computing power everything else be damned so it can do something before a specific time in the near future .
