If AI art is theft, then any art is theft. Human as a species is incapable of creating something brand new out of nothing. We can't depict something, that we haven't experienced in one way or another. Just as AI, we need inspiration. And if your problem with AI art is consent of an artist for AI to be trained on your art, well you uploaded our art on the net in digital form. NOTHING is private on internet, no matter how much you want it be otherwise, if you upload something in internet, only thing that separates it from being public domain is - time. There is no such thing as "artist's unique style/technique/touch". Only time those can be unique, is when artist made it and kept it for themselves alone, once you show it to anyone - it can and will be copied and modified. The act of "effort" also means - nothing. To a consumer, it doesn't matter how much time and effort you spent on something. If it did, logically, art from beginning artists woud worth more, since they spent more effort into it, instead of skillful artist that does the same job effortlessly. AI art is not theft. It's a tool. Just like conventional artists write in brush strokes, AI artist write in prompts, while purpose is the same - get an idea from your head into reality for others to see. It is a wider gate for people to express themselves, their inner worlds, and artists that stand against this are nothing more that gatekeepers to me. "Ooh i spent tens thousands of hours to master my skill, you can't use this new technology to create something effortlessly while i'm here wasti... uhm... spending my time creating! It did trained on some of my work, but because i didn't gave my consent it's WRONG! So what if it was another artist that copied my style? It's completely different!" Well tough titties. It will not stop, it will grow bigger, it will get better, no matter how against it you are. Might as well put a tinfoil hat and go burn some 5g towers. Same energy.
