I don’t hear either of those two arguments. However, what I am already seeing and hearing from an increasing number of friends who are artists losing bids and getting paid less for what they did for years.
We are seeing AI affect art the way it first began affecting programming.
AI art is not necessarily better or worse, but it is potentially a LOT cheaper.
So, imagine if anyone and everyone in your town could create great paintings, and many started to do so. Do you think that might affect what you can charge? Of course it does, just like 3D printers affected machine shop artists, but on steroids.
If you do it for the love of it, that will never change. It will only change for those who do it for money/professionally.
However, it can not affect your ability to create art, so if you like creating art, just keep creating, but do it for the love of it instead of “as a living”. If that’s not an option, then you’re kind of buggered.
