Problem with nightshade is that its not suitable for more cartoon art styles, takes too much computational resources to be applied and can be (partially) removed with using many times less comp power. Also it only works on SD models. Its better than nothing, but currently, offense is stronger than defence in this topic. Me and my friend decided to test out NS effects on resulting model (we are not ai bros, we are IT bachelors), and to my surprise, after some not computationally costly manipulations (no, we dont use blur, its stupid) even if it had negative effect, it was negligible and probably just a fluke.
We spent more rtx 3070 computation time poisioning one image than reverting all 25 of test batch. Its just ineffective, and spoils the looks. I like where it going, people need their ip protected, and you may proceed using nightshade, but for now, its not really effective tool. I hate AI "bros" and big corpos, and we need to find a way to oppose them, but do not feed the illusion that nightshade will protect your art from AI model creator with +- good knowledge. If its not hard and wont damage your arts - go on, but dont use nightshade if its too uncomfortable for you.
