There is no driver shortage!!! There is a wage problem a respect problem not a driver shortage! Driver shortages are just an excuse for big companies to make money! Look at Canada big companies worked on the government to allow what they call turnpikes pull two 53 foot trailers. They pay a driver at most 10 cents a mile more to do this. The company charges full price for both trailers they save wages for a driver not needed a truck not needed and it is all about bigger profits! Same thing with driverless trucks it just makes more profit for companies! Pay drivers what they should be paid treat them with respect they are not computers you can’t just turn us off and on! I have been a commercial driver for 45 years a driver should be paid around 1.00 per mile, facilities available to clean themselves and relieve themselves new drivers need to know the realities of the job the new breed of drivers want more home time the world needs to pay the real cost of transportation of goods! Nowadays there’s cheap freight at the cost of the drivers!
